I really enjoyed reflecting on online learning this week and discussing different components of an online course. In breakout rooms, we talked about the pros and cons of online learning. It was really interesting to reflect on this past year to think about what we found useful, and what we look forward to when we return to in-person classes. Here are some of the positives and negatives we discussed in our discussion!

Positives:

  • No commute.
  • Lectures can be recorded and PowerPoints can be re-visited.
  • Save a bit of money (gas, buying lunches, parking pass, etc.).
  • More sleep (I get to wake up closer to the time of class since there is no commute).

Negatives:

  • It’s hard to look at a screen all day!
  • It is difficult to connect with peers.
  • Not getting as much fresh air (which is why incorporating walks into your routine is so important!)
  • Hard to separate home and school life.

It was nice to reflect on online learning and discuss what we liked about the process/ what we did not. I look forward to returning to in-person classes soon, but I also enjoyed the experience of online learning!

P.S. I was looking for some online learning images on Unsplash and I found an adorable image of a Pomeranian doing work on an ipad (I included for my feature image)! So funny! This image is by Cookie the Pom on Unsplash.
